Missouri Connections

Students in the Ritenour School District will develop and maintain an Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP) and experience Career Exploration through a computer-based program found on the Missouri Connections website.

In preparation to assist in developing each student’s ICAP the counseling department will teach classroom lessons and work individually with students. Classroom lessons will consist of career and self-exploration activities.

Career exploration includes the following:

  • Completion of the Career Cluster Inventory (CIS) survey.
  • Completion of various lessons related to career development.
  • Researching results from their CIS to discover an occupation of interest.

Self-exploration includes the following:

  • Discovering interests helps with a better understanding of one's interests, values, likes, and dislikes.
  • Using the self-survey tools to begin exploring career options to enjoy.

Missouri Connections is sponsored by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and provides students (grades K-12+), their parents, counselors, and educators with educational and career planning information and resources at no charge.

The comprehensive internet-based system, customized specifically for Missouri, offers the following services:

  • Career Path, Career Cluster, and Career Pathway Exploration
  • Career Assessment and Direction
  • Educational and Occupational Planning
  • Job Preparation and Management
  • ICAP and Resume Building
